OG EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW ; PLS CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF?

My name is Adeniyi Iyanuoluwa Shalom, I'm from Kwara State, I'm an aspiring writer and I'm presently serving in Edo state.

WHAT MOTIVATED /INSPIRED YOU INTO WRITING OF STORIES ?

We'll, I've always loved stories, I read novels and I watch movies a lot. And I love anything that has to do with writing, like writing notes, typing, I just love it.

The first story I wrote "The Girl in the Background" was not planned at all. It was just on a Wednesday afternoon, after I broke a fast, the topic just came to my mind, I just picked my pen and a used book in my room and I just started writing, I snapped and sent to my friends and they were like they love it, so I sent it to a friend of mine who has a blog and he helped me post it on his blog and that's how I started officially.

WHAT IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP STATUS

FROM YOUR NAIRALAND PAGE,YOU HAVE FOLLOWERS READING YOUR STORIES,  HOW ARE YOU ABLE TO KEEP YOUR STORY UPDATED EVEN WITH YOUR TIGHT SCHEDULES ?

It's not easy actually but because it's something I love doing I always find time for it, no matter how busy I am. And I'm a sort of person that does not like disappointing people, I always have it at the back of my mind that "some people are waiting for me to update my story and they will feel bad if I disappoint them even if it's just a person that is reading my story".

WHAT CAN A MAN DO TO FIRST WIN YOUR HEART? , I MEAN FIRST THING, INCASE HE  WANTS TO DATE YOU?

He should make me feel wanted and loved, like he actually wants to be with me. I just want to see his efforts.

MOST OF YOUR FANS BELIEVES YOUR STORIES ARE BASED ON TRUE LIFE EVENTS, HOW TRUE IS THAT?

Partially true. The thing is I get most of my stories from things happening around me, things I see, hear, and sometimes I just imagine an event, and then I try to relate it to myself, I imagine myself as that character, that if it's me, how would I feel? I guess that's why people think they are true events.

MY NEXT QUESTION, WHO IS YOUR MENTOR?

Uhm, I don't have one in particular right now. I'm desperately looking for someone that will mentor me. I still need lots of things to learn.

AS AN AUTHOR, HOW DO YOU INTEND EXPANDING YOUR COAST?

I want to open a blog for myself and like I said earlier, I need a mentor,  so I can produce my own book.

WHAT KIND OF BOOKS DO YOU READ,AND DO YOU HAVE AUTHORS YOU LOOK UPON AS A ROLE MODEL?

I read novels, romance, horror, fantasy and so on. There is this writer on Wattpad  Neileni Alejandrino, I like her stories, it makes you think you are really in the story.
Also, I love the book Purple Hibiscus which makes me love Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's books.
I see myself to have touched lives through my stories and to have published my own book

SO HOW DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN THE NEXT 5YEARS AS A AUTHOR?

WHO IS YOUR IDEAL MAN ?:

Apart from being Godfearing, I want a man that will love me a lot, and someone that wouldn't let go no matter what.

HOW DO YOU WANT PEOPLE TO SEE YOUR STORY?  DO YOU WANT PEOPLE TO HAVE IMPACT, OR TO READ YOUR STORIES JUST FOR FUN?

Definitely the impact, as a writer no matter how beautiful your words are if it doesn't have any positive effect on people, your words are wasted.

IS THERE ANY MEANING TO THE NAME PENSHALOM?

 

Nah, it's just a name myself and a friend came up with while playing.

SO TELL US, WHICH OF THE STORY DID YOU ENJOY WRITING AND WHY?

I enjoyed writing "Saved Through Love" and it's sequel "Through the Storm" the most, I just feel connected to the characters even though they are not real. Weird right?
