OFFICIAL: Steven Gerrard will manage Liverpool Under 18s next season

Liverpool have confirmed Steven Gerrard will become the manager of their Under-18 side ahead of the new season as he continues his advancement in coaching.

The 36-year-old, who retired from playing last November before embarking on the next phase of his career with the club’s Academy in February, will begin his duties this summer.

The Reds legend was initially tasked with a floating role at Kirkby, but having impressed with his attitude and aptitude, he’ll succeed Neil Critchley in the post, who will take charge of the Under-23s.

"I have really enjoyed my time at the Academy so far and feel I have learnt a lot from the coaching staff here already,” Gerrard said.
