Ex-Manchester City youth star George Swan is football’s youngest agent

Retiring at the age of just 21 is a situation that few footballers would want to face.

And when it happened to Manchester City youth star George Swan, it is fair to say that he did not see his future career path coming.

Less than 12 months after reluctantly hanging up his boots, he has reinvented himself as football’s youngest agent.

He already has one deal under his belt, and has even rejected two job offers from his former club – from academy director Mark Allen and former reserve team boss Patrick Vieira.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror he said: ‘It’s a start. I hope I don’t have to take Patrick up on his job offer.

‘I didn’t want to sit and watch football and think: “That could be me,” or “I’m better than him” and get bitter about it.

‘This way I stay in touch. I’m working for good people and maybe – just maybe – I can build a better future for someone else as well as one for myself.’

Having joined City from Leeds for £500,000 at the age of just 14, Swan had the world at his feet
