A successor or alternative to President Buhari In 2019

There are many who do not want – for several reasons – to discuss replacing Muhammadu Buhari as Nigeria’s President come 2019.Such people see Buhari as the person who can effectively move Nigeria away from the decadence of the past. Although, I supported his candidacy withthe idea of him being a bufferbetween the past up to 2015 and the future in 2019.Many also believe that it is premature to consider a replacement for him now – an opinion I regard as naive, given that some early contenders have already thrown their hats in the ring by testing the waters and willsoon be joined by others.   Then there are those who areconvinced that Buhari needs two terms to solidify his reforms. And my response tothis viewpoint is: Nope! All heneeds is a successor who will continue from where he left off and take Nigeria to the stratosphere!Having sincerely appraised the performance of this administration from every possible angle, I have concluded that it could have been much better.President BuhariYes, Buhari inherited a mountain of problems. But he asked for the job and once he realized how much of a mess was waiting for him, he didn’t give up or run away. To his credit, he decided to give it a shot. However, his best right now is not good enough unless we want to be very optimistic. My evaluation of the man I campaigned for is that he will do exactly what I expected of him and reset the nation. But no more. What do I mean by that?Think of what Nelson Mandela did for South Africa in a limited sense. While Madiba was not the kind of President who leads a nation hands-on, he was a buffer between the evil Apartheid past and South Africa’s all-inclusive future. And, afterone term, he stepped down, having bridged the gap, his duty done.

RECESSION: Terminal operator reduces freight rates to woo vehicle importers

PORTand Terminal Multi-Purpose Services Limited, (PTML) through its shipping arm; Grimaldi Shipping has reduced freight rates on vehicle importation in a bid to address declining vehicle imports through its terminal occasioned by the current economic recession.Vanguard investigation reveals that vehicle imports through the company’s terminal have been on the downward trend since the beginning of the year.To address this developmentthe company, two weeks ago, reduced freight charge per vehicle to $900 from $1,400 charged.Confirming this development, Public Relations Officer of the PTML Command of Nigeria Customs Service, Mr. Steve Okonmah said that  the number of vessels that berthed at the terminal dropped by 15 vessels from 125 vessels in 2015 to 110 in2016.According to him, the number of 20 foot containersreceived in  2015 was 15,352,000, this however dropped to 10, 928,000 in 2016, indicating decline of 4,414,000.Also, the number of 40 foot containers received dropped from 10,000 in 2015 to 8,000 in 2016.According to Okonmma, the number of vehicles  importedthrough the terminal droppedfrom 35,000 in  2015, to 27,000 in  2016 showed that 27,000.A clearing agent operating at the PTML Terminal, Elder Sunday Nnebeh described the year 2016 as the worst in the history of Nigerian ports. He said that government policies have affected so many importers so much that they could not clear theircargoes from the port. He said the cargoes seen at the port are those stuck on demurrage .“ 2016 is the worst year ever that we have witnessed in terms of importation, the policy has affected all operators, even Abacha that we termed the worst was not like this”

Senate defers confirmation of Acting EFCC Chairman, Magu

ABUJA—THE Senate did not confirm the appointment of the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, yesterday as expected but differed it to next Thursday.Though Magu and his team were on ground in full readiness for the exercise at the National Assembly,  the screening was, however, not captured in yesterday’s OrderPaper. It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had forwarded Magu’s name to the Senate five months ago for confirmation. He   was appointed in acting capacity   by President Buhari on November 9, 2015,following the sack of his predecessor, Ibrahim Lamorde.Speaking with journalists on why Magu’s confirmation was postponed, Deputy Senate Majority leader,   Senator Bala Ibn-Na’Allah, explained that   appeals fromsenators   who were   currently out of Abuja, led to the deferment.Ibrahim Magu, Acting Executive Chairman, EFCCSenator Na’Allah, who disclosed that the Senate leadership had unanimously agreed to commence the exercise  next Thursday, saida letter had been sent to Magu and other members of the board of EFCC in this regard.Na’Allah said:  “Let me correct it. In fact it was listed on the Order Paper and removed. The Senate is normally guided by the time frame of the work.‘’We agreed that today (yesterday) will be the confirmation hearing of the EFCC acting chairman, Magu, but we received a lot of calls from senators who are away and who believe that they want to participate and that itis unfair for us to fix it when we know they are not around.“When we look at the demands and the number, we felt it would be wrong for us to proceed. Then we said it should be next Thursday. Again, we became too unsure as to whether  Monday or  Tuesday will be declared public holiday by the Federal Government in respect of the impending Eid-Malud holiday.

Buhari’s homegrown school feeding programme kicks offin Anambra

Awka—The National Homegrown School Feeding scheme has entered implementation stage with the feeding of primary schoolpupils in Anambra State yesterday.Speaking in Awka, Anambra State capital, the Special Assistant on Homegrown School Feeding Programme in the Office of the Vice President, Mr. Dotun Adebayo said primary schoolpupils in Anambra were excited as the feeding started in their schools.President BuhariAdebayo who led a team of federal and state officials to some of the schools on day one of the programme implementation said they witnessed the feeding in three schools in Awka: Community Primary School, Awka South; Central School Ameobi, and Central School in Nibo.“The pupils were excited and enjoyed the meals,” he stated, adding that the cooks in those three schools, among the total 774 already recruited and trained for the feeding programme, served ‘okpa’ a.k.a moin-moin garnished with vegetables to the delight of the pupils who took the meals during their break time about noonday. All together in Anambra State, an estimated 76, 690 pupils in 1050 schools wouldbe served every day at school. The feeding programme caters to pupils from primary 1 to 3.

Suspend ban on vehicle imports through land borders, Reps tell FG

ABUJA—The House of Representatives, yesterday, asked the Federal Government to suspend the ban on importation of vehicles through land borders in Nigeria.Consequently, the lawmakers, at plenary, mandated the Committees on Governmental Affairs and Customs and Excise to ensure implementation and report back to the House within six weeks for further legislative input. This development was basedon a motion, entitled ‘’Need to suspend The Ban On Importation of Vehicles Through Land Borders, promoted by Abdulahi Salame, APC, Sokoto.Meantime, stakeholders in the maritime industry were divided on the issue, yesterday. While some supported the ban, others kicked against it.Salame, in his presentation, argued that those making these policies have failed to patronise made-in-Nigeria goods, especially Nigerian assembled vehicles, which are, in any case unaffordable for 80 percent of Nigerians. He said:  “The percentage of Nigerians who can afford cars has declined drastically, following the decline in the value of the Naira, rising inflation, unemployment and high cost of living that have bedeviled Nigeria where over 80 per cent of Nigerians live below $2 a day.“The Federal Government has powers under Section 18of the Customs and Excise Management Act to restrict the movement of goods into and out of Nigeria by land or inland waters and to appoint customs stations.‘’However, similar exercise ofsuch powers on rice importation through the land borders in April 2016, has occasioned untold hardship on Nigerians, as a bag of ricenow sells for between N20,000 and N23,000, against N8,000 a few monthsago.

My kids can’t play for Nigeria,Akide-Udoh vows

FormerSuper Falcons Strikerand Nigeria football Legend, Mercy Akide-Udoh has suggested that her Children “will never play for Nigeria” if the poor treatment of playerspersists in the Football Federation.Akide-Udoh , who was a member of Nigeria’s pioneer Falcons team, was named the first African Women Footballer of the Year in 2001 and also won accolades in 1999 and 2004 when she was named in the FIFA World All-Star.Mercy AkideThe 41-year-old slammed theunrepentant Nigeria football administrators for the unpaidallowances of the Super Falcons, who despite the many unsavory conditions, won the 2016 Africa Women Cup of Nations title.“ They fought with everything, so it should have been a happy ending. These kids have families, their parents are waiting for them to come back and put food on the table,” she told BBC Sport. “ They’ve done their part and should be paid their money. I won’t be surprised if some of these kids don’t come back; opting to stay with their clubs rather than play for Nigeria.“ I am sorry, My kids are Americans, with the situationgoing on if something does not change my kids will never play for Nigeria. Who wants to suffer? We did it in our own time, this is a new generation, they should not be suffering what we suffered.”

MY MAN MUST BE A HERO IN BED - Ayo Yinkus

So today am bringing us an interview gloriafinesblog had with a foremost and controversial relationship blogger. One who stands for the truth when it comes to issues concerning relationships and as such many have missunderstood her.
The men claimed she is a man-hater and have no consideration for broke ass nigga a phrase allegedly invented by her. I present to you the real Ayo Yinkus the founder of ayosblog.com a brainresetting blog.
Read the interview below:
Can we meet you?
I am Ayoyinka Florence, from osun state but born and bred in Lagos.
What is your early childhood like?
*chuckles* my childhood was like every normal child,i grew up with my mum because dad wasn't always around, he was a military personnel,
Is Ayo married?
Ayo is not yet married, but she's hoping to be soon.
Ayosblog has suddenly taken over the blogsphere.
Taking over the blogosphere? wow, i didn't know about that anyway.
Can we know what Ayosblog is all about?
Ayosblog is mainly to create love, life and relationship awareness for the masses,it's seeks to educate the readers on the dynamics of a successful life and relationship, also to give the readers BRAINRESTTINGS to prevent dating abuse.
The phrase "broke ass nigga" invented by you, is all about what?
Broke ass nigga was invented by Ayo?? Says who please?!! I didn't invent any word but if people feels like i invented that word,so be it.
It is widely speculated that you advice your female fans not to date a poor guy, can you clarify that statement?
OMG! you see Gloriafines when I give advice on my blog, people tend to misconstrue my advises, like when I just started by blog,so many guys were wailing to the extent that many came to my Facebook inbox to say all sort of words, some said they hate me with passion and when I asked why? All they could say is that i give females more hands than them and I am spoiling their show. One even specifically came to my inbox to tell me to close my Facebook page "straight from the soul with Ayo down and when i asked why,he said he doesn't like the way am creating awareness for the females and prays that some country girls won't see this my page because it will open their eyes...then i began to wonder if men want to enslave women forever or what exactly.
Yes,I tell girls who comes to me for an advice not to date any man who is jobless, and the next thing people say is that Ayo is a man hater! Please how can a girl who is working and earning well be seen with a jobless guy?
A guy who has refused to work, will kill the woman's world because he has absolutely nothing to offer than his wandering penis, which is nonsense. Any girl that follows a jobless man will lose woefully.
Another controversy surrounding your personality is that you hate men and give your support to women alone.?
This is what i just said up,how can i hate men when I have five lovely brothers?? That's not possible. When people come to my page to read my posts, the next thing they start crusading is that Ayo hates men.,please people should try and read my posts well and understand instead of castigating me.
Have you ever been in an abusive relationship?
Yes,I was in an abusive relationship which lasted for for four years.
I almost died in it if not for the grace of His,despite how i gave my all,it still didn't work out and that's what i tell women.....if you like give him your world, everyday food sex styles, all your money,if he doesn't have heaven in his mind as a place he must be,the girl is pouring water in an empty basket because the man will dump her at any slighted opportunity.
And moreover, a woman doesn't need to do anything special to keep a man,the only man that can be kept for you is the man who has decided that he wants to keep himself for you alone, ladies, you don't need to do anything for a man before he will keep himself for you alone.
I read somewhere that you and Amara use to be good friends. Can you tell us what happened? Please leave amara,i don't know anything about that.
You posted a picture recently and many condemned and said it is a semi nude photo what can you say about indecent dressing?
Don't mind them, they already have rotten things in their mind that's why,go on my Facebook Ayo Yinkus, the picture is still there, check if you see the opening of my lap or breast, even my chest didn't show at all, most of the guys condemning the pix are those guys who have come to my inbox to toast me but i didn't answer them.
Funny thing is that, all of them are my sweetheart, as far as you are a good guy, you are my sweetheart.
Who is your ideal man?
My ideal man is a man that heaven will be his number one priority,
I also love gentle guys. loving and he must not be stingy, then he must be a hero in bed
So where do you see ayosblog in two years time?
Oh God is charge, in two years time, i will want AYOSBLOG to have given majority of people BRAINRESTTINGS, so that they can enter into a relationship that will lead to marriage and nothing like divorce will be In their dictionary
Any word for your fans?
I love all my fans to the moon and back, especially those who are always standing by me and believing in me to give the best, may God celebrate you all.
Hope you enjoyed the interview with Ayo. We will be doing this always just stay glued. You can connect with Ayo on her Facebook page straight from the soul with Ayo.

Police uncover ritualists’ den in Ogun, arrest two

Operatives of the Zonal Intervention Squad, Zone 2, Police Command, Onikan, Lagos, have uncovered a ritualists’ den at Abule Ifa, Siun area of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Ogun State, arresting two suspected leaders of the syndicate.

Recovered inside the massive den were several fetish materials and assorted charms.

Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Zone, Abdulmajid Ali, yesterday, led a team of senior officers among who were Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Police Command, Mr. Ahmed Iliyasu; Officer in Charge of Operations, Zone 2, DCP Suleiman Balarabe; Commander of the ZIS, CSP Gbenga Megbope, and Commander 16 Police Mobile Force, Chika, among others, to the den.

The den
The visit, as explained by the AIG, was to have an on-the-spot assessment of the den and also to design possible legal means of taking over the den, which he described as dangerous.

He stated that the discovery and subsequent arrest of the suspects were made following a tip-off.

He disclosed that the den was used by some fraudsters/ritualists to dupe people and perpetrate evil acts.

“The operatives, who had been on surveillance of the men of the underworld, were able to arrest the ring leaders of the syndicate identified as Taiwo Adeleke, 47, and Kayode Oseni, 52,” he added.

While commending the policemen for what he described as a job well done, he reiterated his readiness to set all machineries in motion, with a view to tackling crime and criminality within the zone.

He said: “Necessary legal steps will be taken to take over the structure and dislodge the syndicate,” adding that the suspects would be charged to court.

Senate Gives NDDC 7 Days To Tender Evidence Of Approval On 1,691 Contracts

ABUJA—THE Senate Committee on Public Accounts, yesterday, directed authorities of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, to submit all approval evidences for 1,691 contracts it awarded within seven days for verification.

The order was sequel to the failure of the commission to provide evidence of approval for the 1,691 contracts out of the entire 1,697 contracts awarded by the commission to registered contractors between 2014 and 2016.

The committee, led by Senator Andy Uba, PDP, Anambra South, subsequently directed the commission to within seven days, furnish it with evidence of approval of all the contracts and relevant certificates of no objection from the Bureau of Public Procurement, BPP.

Failure of the commission to provide evidence of approval for the documented contracts came to the fore during vetting of its report by the committee, yesterday.

Apart from failure to provide approval evidence of contracts awarded, the commission was also queried by the committee for running 22 bank accounts before the implementation of Treasury Single Account, TSA, as against four approved for the commission by government.

The commission was also faulted by the committee for its huge tax debt profile of N28.7 billion against the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, and ordered it to start offsetting the debt forthwith.

The N28.7 billion tax debt profile of the commission as explained by its Acting Managing Director, Mrs Ibim Seminitari, arose from the N23 billion she met on ground and the N5.7 billion penalty slammed on it by FIRS, saying payment agreement had been entered into by the two agencies.

Failure of the commission to include income figures in its 2016 report on income and expenditure also put it under fire during the session, with a member of the committee, Bassey Akpan (PDP Akwa Ibom North East), accusing   the NDDC management of deliberate omission.

Though the NDDC Acting Managing Director, Mrs Ibim Seminitari informed the committee that a total of N23.5 billion had been given to the commission by the Federal Government in addition to N87.1 billion proceeds made from oil companies.

Responding, Seminitari said: “We will try as requested. There were errors in the past issues about award of contracts. We are trying to correct and improve on our standards.”

Kaduna have been finally approved for 215MW Power Plant by FFC

ABUJA—The Federal Executive Council, FEC, yesterday gave approval for the construction of a power plant in Kaduna which is expected to generate 215 megawatts of electricity.

Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, dropped the hints while briefing State House Correspondents alongside his colleagues in the Ministry of Information, Budget and National Planning at the end of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The minister said the project, when completed would strengthen the national grid, adding that the project was awarded in 2009 to be completed in 2012 but was abandoned.

According to him, the present administration has decided to complete the project due to its importance to the economy.

He also stated that the project would include the construction of another sub-station to evacuate 40 megawatts of power from the Gurara hydro electric power plant, phase one to connect Kaduna.

Fashola said: “Council approved 215megawatt Kaduna power plant. The memo sought procurement and implementation defects and lack of budget support for the project which was started 2009 and should have been completed in 2012, but we are now in the position that we can complete this project by next year to add 215 megawatt of power to the national grid.

“In particular, we will dedicate some of the power to Kudan dam in Kaduna to support industrial complex there.

“The second project was the construction   of sub-station to evacuate 40 megawatt of power from the Gurara hydro electric power plant phase one to connect into Kaduna and to enable it interconnect to Mamdo transmission substation. Thus strengthening the

FG set to commence local production of vaccines

Abuja—The federal government is set to commence local production of vaccines as a deliberate effort to save the lives of more than seven million new born babies in the country.

The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, stated this while receiving the Nigerian Immunization Financing Task Force Team in his office in Abuja yesterday.

The Minister said the Ministry was determined to lead the way in the local production of vaccines, saying there was no justification for the nation to continue to spend on importation of what it could do.

He said: “We used to produce and export vaccines in the past,  Today, we are struggling to be self-sufficient, we need to go back to those things that helped us in the past.

‘’We don’t want to continually remain a poor nation, and rather being recipient of grants, we should be able to give grants to other countries.

“The Federal Ministry of Science and Technology will lead the way in making sure that vaccines are produced in the country to satisfy local needs and eventually for export to other African countries.”

Onu, who commended the team for being selfless in its efforts, urged it to work more in the common interest of the nation.

Earlier, leader of the team Dr. Benson Anyene, said the main goal of the team was to help Nigeria achieve Sustainable Immunization Financing by putting in place concrete efforts that would address gaps in the vaccines chain.

According to him, it has become obvious that if immediate actions are not taken quickly too, Nigeria may find itself in a position where it would no longer immunize children due to non-availability of vaccines.

He said the aim was also to get the federal government to increase the budget on immunization, establish an immunization fund and get the state to contribute to immunization procurement.

He noted that 25 per cent of Nigerian children died annually as a result of lack of immunization, as Nigeria had not produced any vaccine since 1991.

He stressed the need for policy documents and bankable business plan that would shape the sector and solicited the support of the ministry towards the realization of the project.

NMA makes case for National Health law

Jos—Medical doctors have called on the National Assembly to prevail on President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently implement the National Health Act passed into law since 2014, saying Nigerians would have access to better healthcare delivery, if law was implemented.

The doctors, under the aegis of Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, yesterday, during a peaceful protest to Plateau State House of Assembly in Jos, lamented that two years after the bill was passed, they were still awaiting its implementation.

Tabling their grievance before the Speaker, Peter Azi, NMA President, Dr. Mike Ogirima, through the state chapter Chairman, Dr. Meshak Daniel, said: “We wish to remind you that the National Health Act was signed into law in 2014, and as at today, there is no concrete structure on ground to start its implementation.

“NMA wishes to draw the attention of Mr. President that provisions in the Act are capable of transforming healthcare delivery in the country in line with the change agenda of the current regime.”

Chairman of the chapter, Dr. Christopher Edeh, gave the charge when he addressed newsmen in Keffi, Nasarawa State, to mark the commencement of the association’s week.

Responding, Director, Medical Health Care, Keffi Local Government, Dr. Nadawa Absalom, disclosed that Nasarawa State was putting healthcare services under one roof as well as pushing for the implementation of NHA Act for the benefits of the people.

Ondo polls: Jimoh Ibrahim remains PDP candidate – Oladipo

Abuja—The National Secretary of the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Professor Wale Oladipo, yesterday, insisted that Mr Jimoh Ibrahim remains the party’s candidate for the Ondo State governorship election.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja yesterday, Professor Oladipo said Ibrahim emerged as the party’s candidate in a duly conducted primaries.

According to him, the Independent National Electoral Commission as an  umpire should be neutral and abide by the ruling of an Abuja High Court which said that only the candidate from  Sheriff faction of the party should be recognised.

JIMOH-IBRAHIM
He said Ondo State was very important to the party and it would do everything possible to keep it.

“We are determined to keep Ondo State. The NWC decided that for us to win that election, we need to give full backing to our candidate, Jimoh Ibrahim” he said.

But the position of the secretary was in sharp contrast to the position of Sheriff who said that he would abide by any decision arrived at by INEC on the candidate for the election.

A statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Inuwa Bwala, said he will abide by the decision of INEC on the party’s candidate in the Ondo State governorship election.

Ibrahim and Mr Eyitayo Jegede, who emerged as candidate in a primary election organised by the National Caretaker Committee led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi are laying claim to the PDP governorship ticket in the November 26 governorship election.

Oladipo said his group was not asking for any favour from INEC for Ibrahim in the governorship election, noting that all it was imploring the electoral body to do is to obey the order a Federal High Court in Abuja, which stated that the business man is the authentic candidate of the PDP in Ondo State. He said, “we know of no other candidate but Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim. A court of competent jurisdiction has said it, it has reiterated its position in another order which INEC itself has acknowledged receipt of. So, we are waiting to see the magic the electoral umpire is planning to perform.

“If they do otherwise, we will pursue the matter and ensure that the INEC staff involved is jailed for contempt of court” .

Speaking on the PDP crisis, Oladipo said both Sheriff and Makarfi are committed to resolving the leadership crisis in the party, but stated that the reconciliation must be done in accordance with the law.

“While we are preaching reconciliation, we will not allow anybody to trample on the constitution of the country. Jimoh Ibrahim’s candidature can not be sacrificed on the altar of reconciliation”, the PDP leader said.

Manchester United 4-1 Leicester City: Wayne Rooney is not missed

Manchester United looked better without Wayne Rooney against Leicester
Manchester United got back to winning ways in the Premier League with a 4-1 victory over champions Leicester at Old Trafford. Dropping Wayne Rooney paid off, writes Adam Bate.
Manchester United had won their first three Premier League games only to lose the next two. One thing all five matches had in common was that Jose Mourinho's men were outrun by their opponents. That changed on Saturday against champions Leicester City of all teams. And it coincided with the removal of Wayne Rooney from the starting line-up.
The United captain began on the bench in a Premier League game for only the third time in four seasons and while it would be unfair to blame him entirely for the erstwhile lack of urgency shown by the side up to this point, it was conspicuous just how much more intense they looked in his absence. Mourinho's decision to go with "the two fast kids" paid off.

IPOB sit at home order disrupts commercial activities in Onitsha

The sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Friday disrupted commercial and academic activities in Onitsha, Anambra as markets, banks and schools were closed in compliance.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the order was, however, a failure in most parts of the South East as the people went about their businesses unmolested.
The pro-Biafra group had made the order to protest the continued detention of its leader, Mr Nnamdi Kanu, and other agitators detained in various prisons.
A visit to some of the major markets in Onitsha showed that only a hand full of traders opened shops but customers were not forthcoming.
Mr Emmanuel Obiagu, the chairman of Uguagba Old Motor Parts in Obosi near Onitsha, said the market was open.
A trader at the Onitsha Main Market who deals in shoes, Mr Frank Egbunam, expressed displeasure at the sit-at-home call at a time the country was going through economic recession.
Egbunam urged the agitators to device other peaceful means, including negotiations by the elites rather than crumbling the economic activities of the people.
He said that the protest was due to the perceived marginalisation of the Igbo in the country’s socio-political settings.
The businessman also called for the restructuring of the country to ensure equitable distribution of its resources.
Another businessman, Mr Okpala Eze, who did not open for business, expressed support for the agitators but warned against violence in their approach.
“The sit-at-home order is good because we want the Federal Government to release Nnamdi Kanu and other people languishing in prisons,” Eze said.
A civil servant, Mr Anthony Oguguo, said the IPOB directive affected the price of transportation because people stayed indoors for fear of the unknown.
“I waited for more than two hours before getting a bus coming from Awka to Onitsha; the ones I saw collected N500 as against the usual N200,” Oguguo said.
Security agents were positioned at the Onitsha Bridgehead, Nkpor Junction and Uga Junction while some others patrolled the city.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police in-charge of the Onitsha Area Command, Mr Abubaakar Yahaya, said no case of violence had been reported.
“The whole place is quiet and peaceful; people are going about their businesses.
“Nobody has come out to breach the peace to justify any arrest,” Yahaya said.
In Awka, the order had poor compliance in as businesses, human and vehicular traffic were normal in the capital city.
Commercial banks which were closed early in the day later opened to customers while the popular Eke-Awka Market was open but scanty.
However, most schools in the state capital were closed due to fear as their authorities had instructed parents to keep their children at home for safety.
Vehicular movement on the Enugu- Onitsha road was normal but there was a sudden jerk in transportation fare due to reduced number of commuter busses heading toward Onitsha.
In Nnewi, some shops and banks were open but businesses were at low ebb as people were cautious.
In a statement, a leader of MASSOB, Mr Uchenna Madu, said the protest was a success.
“We gladly salute the people for their love, confidence and trust bestowed on IPOB, MASSOB and other Biafra agitating groups.
“MASSOB demands for the immediate and unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Benjamin Onwuka, Chidiebere Onwudiwe and other detained pro-Biafra agitators in prisons mostly in Onitsha and Awka,” it stated.
Meanwhile, the coordinator of IPOB/MASSOB Coalition, Mr Okanu Muoneme, applauded Nigerians for heeding their call against compliance with the sit-at-home order.
Muoneme, however, berated those who did not go out for business because of fear.
“We earlier called on the people to ignore the call to sit at home; we want to thank Nigerians for heeding our call.
“However, some people did not go out because they were afraid; meanwhile we reiterate our demand that our leader, Mr Nnamdi Kanu, be freed from prison as the courts have ordered,” he said.
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra, Mr Sam Okaula, described the streets of Anambra as calm.
“Anambra is calm, markets are open and people are going about their normal activities without hindrances,” he said.
From Umuahia is a report that apathy and noncompliance marred the order for a sit-at-home to protest the continued detention of Kanu.
Civil servants, students, shop owners, market men and women, artisans and commuter-vehicle operators went about their duties unmolested.
Reports from Aba, the commercial hub of Abia, also showed that the city recorded no restriction in vehicular and people’s movement as well as commercial activities.
The city was calm with shops, markets and schools open for normal activities.
Some residents of Aba and Umuahia who spoke on conditions of anonymity said that they did not want to comply with the order.
“The order is a huge failure in Aba and people are going about their normal daily activities, in spite of the initial fear.
“People are aware of the IPOB order but because there was no enforcement, people went about their businesses,” it said.
There was heavy presence of anti-riot policemen and military personnel at strategic locations in the cities while some patrol vehicles monitored the areas.
It was a similar story in Enugu as people of the state did not comply with the order.
Some of the residents who spoke with NAN said they ignored the order because it did not come from the state or federal government.
Mr Chinedu Nnaji, a civil servant, said he did not obey the order because it was not officially announced by the state and the federal governments.
A trader at Ogbete Market who preferred anonymity said that the order was effective in the morning as a few people trickled in but later boomed, the moment they realised that it would not hold.
The source expressed dismay with the alleged sabotage by a leader of the Ogbete Main Market Trades Association who he said invited the police to arrest 12 members of IPOB in the market.
It said that it was a shame that the police failed to arrest violent herdsmen who destroyed farmlands in the state but were on hand to arrest people who discussed innocently in support of IPOB.
He regretted that the order affected the buying and selling in the market as people were afraid to come out due to the presence of soldiers, civil defence and police in and around the market.
The group had ordered residents to sit at home to observe one year of incarceration of its leader, Kanu.
The IPOB leader is facing prosecution by the Federal Government for alleged treasonable felony.

Top 10 Best Google Adsense Alternatives

Top 10 Best Google Adsense Alternatives

There are many excellent reasons to look for Google Adsense alternatives. Maybe you already have an Adsense account; you’re looking for alternatives because you’d like to keep your website income diversified, or because you’d like to add some additional income streams. Perhaps you’re looking for ways to earn more money from your ad space than you would be able to earn with Adsense. In our experience, this is not only possible, it’s likely with some of the alternatives we’re suggesting.
Perhaps you’ve had a hard time getting approved for an Adsense account, or maybe you had an Adsense account that got banned.
Whatever your reasons, you’ll be happy to know that there are plenty of fantastic options available for you to consider. We invite you to check out these ten viable, lucrative Adsense alternatives.

1. Meridian at Sovrn.com

Sovrn.com’s Meridian is a CPM (cost per mille) ad network that accepts publishers of any size. This network pays publishers per ad impression. When the network serves an ad to one of your visitors, you’ll get paid whether or not your website visitors clicks on the ad.
Meridian allows you to set a minimum price for your website’s ad space. However, there might be times when this network can’t fill all your ad impressions, so they allow you to set up what’s called “backfill.” This means you can give them instructions for an alternative ad to display. If you have a Google Adsense account, you could use Adsense as backfill, which means that Adsense ads will display on your site at times when Meridian isn’t able to fill your ad impressions. You can also backfill with other ads.
Payment Details:
  • They pay publishers on a net 30 basis.
  • The payment threshold is $25.00.
  • Payment is by check, PayPal, ACH, global ACH, eCheck, local bank transfer or international wire transfer.

2. Easy Monetizer at Monetizeasite.com

Easy Monetizer isn’t an ad network. It’s a tool that allows you to automate affiliate linking so much that the process becomes as easy as monetizing through an ad network, which makes it a viable Adsense alternative.
Usually, when you monetize with affiliate marketing, you have to pick products, build links, and maintain them. This is time consuming, unlike the process of using ad networks. The appeal of an ad network is its ease of use; the networks allow you to just paste a bit of code into your website and begin monetizing.
Easy Monetizer allows you to get started monetizing just as easily; all you have to do is upload and enable a WordPress plugin on your blog or website. About three minutes is all the time it takes to set up Easy Monetizer. After setup, the tool will take over the chores of finding the best products to show your visitors, creating your affiliate links, placing the links where you want them in your blog posts, making sure the links don’t break, and making sure the prices displayed on your pages are all accurate.
All this is possible because the tool is powered by Amazon.com’s proprietary algorithms. You’re probably already aware that Amazon.com has created one of the most impressive and sophisticated product suggestion systems on earth. You can tap into this system, and profit from it, by enabling the Amazon.com Easy Monetizer module on your blog or website.
In our experience, Easy Monetizer converts well and is simple to use. The plugin makes it easy to monetize a variety of different blog topics, and it works for publishers of any size.
Amazon Associates Payment Details:
  • Direct deposit, with a $10.00 minimum payout (US Associates only)
  • Check, with a $15.00 fee and a $100.00 minimum payout (No $15.00 fee for international Associates.)
  • Amazon.com gift card
Easy Monetizer offers publishers a lucrative affiliate program that includes recurring commissions.
Easy Monetizer does have an upfront cost. However, the cost is minimal and reasonable considering what you get for the money you spend. If your websites earn consistent affiliate commissions, this tool is a much better deal than competing tools that take a percentage of your earnings. You won’t have to give up a percentage of your affiliate commissions to use Easy Monetizer. It would also cost you much more to hire virtual assistants, freelancers or employees to handle the same tasks.

3. OIO Publisher

OIO Publisher is a WordPress plugin that allows you to monetize your website by managing your own ads. It’s easy to use, although the setup process is lengthy. Once it’s set up, the plugin automates many aspects involved in the process of selling ads on your site. However, you will still have to recruit advertisers.
There is an OIO ad marketplace available to help you with advertiser recruitment. The marketplace may bring you advertisers from time to time, but you can’t count on it to fill up your ad space. You’ll have to make an effort to reach out to advertisers on your own.
If you’re a motivated salesperson, and your blog or website is attractive to advertisers, this tool offers many advantages that make it an excellent Adsense alternative. You receive upfront payment from advertisers, without having to wait for payouts. You won’t have to share any of your earnings with a network. You don’t risk getting banned or having your earnings reversed. You can negotiate directly with your advertisers, and form relationships with them.
There is an upfront cost for OIO Publisher. For motivated publishers, we think this tool is well worth the price considering the great value you get in exchange.
OIO Publisher also offers an affiliate program.

4. Viglink

If you build ordinary links to qualifying products on your website, Viglink converts them into affiliate links you can earn money from. They maintain relationships with merchants.
